This thing looks like a blob of purple jelly with arm-like stubs and a poorly-drawn face. For a split second before it turns into a gigantic dragon.

Ditto are barely intelligent blobs of liquid Ethereal protomatter that have just enough sense of self to keep themselves together. They can, however, turn into other things with more sense of self, and they often do this when they are in danger or bored.

A Ditto can transform itself into almost any sort of creature, so long as it can see or remember it in great detail. They tend not to be very smart, so untrained Ditto are rarely able to remember much of anything. Ditto are prized by researchers of exotic species, because they are able to copy those creatures so perfectly and have been known to "bud" off creatures of that species.

Combat[edit]

Transform (Su): Ditto don't have much of a form of their own, but they like to borrow others'. A Ditto can duplicate polymorph self as a standard action in order to transform into a type of creature that it can see, of up to its own CR - 1 (but which is otherwise within the limits of the spell). It can choose to assume the shape of a specific individual, which is treated as if the Ditto had cast disguise self, using the assumed form's Disguise and Charisma. It can also become a version of that creature advanced by hit dice. This ability lasts until dismissed, or until the Ditto is knocked unconscious or laughing.

A well-trained Ditto can also turn into a limited number of forms without having to see the creature to be copied. It may remember a number of "familiar" forms it has previously assumed equal to half its hit dice or its Intelligence score, whichever is lower. The Ditto needs to be continually exposed to or transformed into the creature for one week, and then it can use its Transform ability to turn into a copy of that creature without it being present.
