Blood clots do nasty things to the bodies of creatures that depend on it to survive, as this spell demonstrates. Such was its creator's mastery over this spell that it was rumored she could use it on other more private parts of the humanoid anatomy. Suffice to say that no one has dared put those rumors to the test.

Upon casting, the caster makes a melee touch attack. If successful, the target must make a Fortitude save or have a blood clot immediately form in either the target’s arm or leg that incurs the following penalties (see below) for the duration of the spell. Other appendages, such as wings, can be targeted at the discretion of the DM, but the effects incurred should remain in keeping with those presented here.

  • Arm: The designated arm or similar appendage dangles uselessly, causing the target to drop whatever they are carrying in that hand (if the equipment is somehow locked on, it still becomes unusable and loses all bonuses it offers, if any). Natural weapons on that limb cannot be used, nor can the target creature perform any actions that would require the use of that limb.
  • Leg: The opponent becomes unable to move properly as one of their legs refuses to cooperate. The target’s base movement speed is decreased by half, and they lose the ability to run, charge, or take 5-foot steps. Due to their inability to move properly, the target is also denied their Dexterity bonus (if any) to Armor Class.

The effects of this spell can be reversed by restoration, heal, greater restoration, or wish.
