Shadow Decoy Master[edit]

A shadow decoy master is an user of shadow magic who found a way to create perfectly identical and sentient version of herself out of shadow stuff, while short lived her decoys make for excellent distractions and perfect for mass attacks.

Becoming a Shadow Decoy Master[edit]

Entry Requirements  
Skills: Knowledge (The Planes) 8 Ranks. 
Feats: Smoking Shadow Style OR Ability to cast at least one [Darkness] or [Shadow] spell or spell-like ability. 
Maneuver: Have access to a 3rd level Shadow Hand maneuver. 
Special: Must have visited the plane of shadow.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Shadow Decoy Master.

Shadow Decoy (Su): A 1st shadow decoy master is capable of making identical copy of herself out of shadow stuff. As a swift action she can create a simulacrum within close range, the decoy appear at the start of your next turn.

Shadow Decoys are quite different from simulacrum, they possess the following traits:

  • Shadow Decoys are perfect visual replica of their creator. They detect as an illusion [shadow] with a caster level equal to your character level, effects such as true seeing also reveal they are illusions.
  • Shadow Decoys have the full HD and HP of their creator, however any amount of lethal damage cause them to vanish into a puff of smoke.
  • They use the same statistics as their master, including Armor Class, AC, Saving Throws, Skill Checks, etc. However they are still half level for numeric class features and other abilities such as caster level and other effects based on class levels and all their attacks only deal half damage. They possess all of the same class features (with exception of shadow decoy master class features) as you, however any non-instantaneous effects they create also vanish as soon as they vanish.
  • If a shadow decoy use an ability with a material components or XP cost, the price is paid by you.
  • Shadow Decoys have a telepathic link with their creator as long as they stay one the same plane.
  • Shadow Decoys appear with a perfect replica of your equipment, their equipment instantly disappear as soon as the decoy vanish or the equipment is left unattended. If the shadow decoy use a limited use on a magic item you possess the use for the original item is also deducted (so if you decoy use a scroll of fireball it is consumed for you and all your decoys).

A shadow decoy master may only have one shadow decoy active at any time, at 3rd level she may have two active and at 5th level she may have three active. If she create a shadow decoy while she has her maximum number of shadow decoy active she must select an existing shadow decoy to vanish to make room for the new one. Your shadow decoys last indefinitely, at least until they are destroyed or make you another above your total limit.

Shadow Substitution (Su): A 2nd level shadow decoy master can use benign transpositionSpC with one of her shadow decoy as an immediate action once per encounter.

Decoy Disguise (Su): A 3rd level shadow decoy master may have her shadow decoy appear in different clothing than her own. She may even attempt to disguise them as another creature, making a Disguise check as part of creating the decoy (at no penalty for rushing). Even if that cause a change of equipment, the decoy still has the very same statistic, as it just an illusion anyway.

Many Shadows (Su): A 3rd level shadow decoy master may now create two shadow decoys at the same time as a as a standard action. At 5th level she may create three decoys as a full-round action.

Multi-Decoys (Su): At 4th level the Shadow Decoys Master's decoys can now create a single decoy of their own. The second generation decoys are identical to the first generation. The second generation decoy cannot make more decoys.

Shadow Image (Su): A 4th level shadow decoy master may make a bunch of lesser shadow decoy as a swift action or as part of a move action, replicating the effect of empowered mirror image. This ability is usable at will.

Army of Shadows (Su): A 5th level shadow decoy master is now capable of creating a literal army of shadow replica of herself as a move action, replicating the effect of legion of sentinelPHII. Unlike the spells the sentinels are capable of moving at your speed each round as a group.
