Enslaver Virus[edit]

The enslaver virus is most insidious because it channels a psychic presence known as an Enslaver. Those infected begin to lose themselves further and further until they effectively become avatars for the enslaver and its vile schemes. It is not known if the enslaver refers to a single being or multiple beings with similar goals, each bound to a different strain of disease. What is known is that is becomes difficult to cure once the patient begins to resist efforts to treat it. This is considered a mind-affecting disease, and those with immunity to mind-affecting effects are immune to the effects of the disease (but they remain carriers).

Those infected with the enslaver virus carry it within their blood. Take care when touching infected corpses lest it spread.

Enslaver Virus
Infection: Contact
DC: 21
Incubation : 1d4 days
Damage : 1d4 Wis damage and Suggestion; Domination (see text)
Effect: Upon first showing symptoms, the host takes 1d4 points of Wisdom damage but does not notice this loss consciously. From this point on at will they are subject to a suggestion effect with the same Will DC as the disease (caster level equals the host's HD, and this is an extraordinary effect). The exact suggestion varies but it usually either involves spreading the disease somehow, or performing some evil act. The disease is cunning enough to select choices which would not endanger its infection. Regardless of the saving throw, the disease can only suggest once every 4 hours.

Each time the host fails a save, the suggestion cooldown time reduces by 1 hour. If the host reaches Wis 0, or the cooldown time becomes 0 hours, the host falls unconscious for 10 minutes. When they awaken, they are dominated as if by dominate monster, and will follow their every command. If the host has ranks in bluff, the disease can use those ranks in bluff to appear to be functioning normally.

Effects which suppress mental control can temporarily free the host from control. If the host is dominated, they have SR 10 + HD against effects which would cure it or suppress or stop its mental domination.

Curing: remove disease works, but creatures are usually suggested or dominated to resist such efforts.

Price: -- gp, this virus is not sold and cannot be controlled.
