1-foot wide ball of fire encased in a sphere of force flies rapidly from you in the direction you specify, to a maximum distance chosen when you cast the spell.

If the ball of fire collides with any creature or object in its path (a ranged touch attack), it deals 1d6 points of Force damage per caster level to that target. If the damage is sufficient to reduce the creature or object's hit points to 0 or less, the ball keeps going; otherwise, it explodes. If the ball has traveled the desired distance, it explodes.

When the ball of fire explodes, it deals 1d6 points of Fire damage per caster level to every creature and unattended object in the area, with a Reflex save for half damage. The explosion sets fire to combustibles and damages objects in the area. It can melt metals with low melting points, such as lead, gold, copper, silver, and bronze. If the damage caused to an interposing barrier shatters or breaks through it, the explosion may continue beyond the barrier if the area permits; otherwise it stops at the barrier just as any other spell effect does.

The burst of pressure as the ball explodes also deafens all creatures who fail their saves for 1 round.
