Heavy-Plated[edit]

With the advent of heavy armor, lighter armors could be retrofitted to improve protection at the cost of mobility. This included methods such as thickened plates, extra layers of chains, or else. The result is light or medium armor that provides superior protection.

Requirements[edit]

In order to create a heavy-plated armor, the crafter must have at least 5 ranks in craft (armorsmithing). The heavy-plated item template can only be added to light or medium armor.

Heavy-Plated Armor[edit]

A heavy-plated armor has its armor bonus increase by 1 and its max dexterity bonus decrease by 1. The armor counts as one weight category heavier for the purpose of benefits granted by special material, feats and special abilities.

The weight of a heavy-plated armor increases by 10 lbs for light armor and 20 lbs for medium armor. This increase in weight is halved if the armor is masterwork.

Cost: Heavy-plated armor cost 50% as much as normal armor of its kind, if the armor is made of a special material, increase the special material price as if it was an armor one weight category heavier.
