Local Anesthetic[edit]

A common type of poison available for legal medical use, local anesthetics actually cover a series of similar chemicals and venoms which all have the effect of numbing an area from pain, allowing otherwise painful surgical work to go unharmed while the patient is awake and aware. Symptoms include a sensation of inflammation and swelling, and inability to move affected muscles to their full ability.

Though legal, some have sought to use it for ill ends. Typically they use it as a method of delivering wounds quietly, keeping the victim from realizing the severity of the attack until it is too late.

Those who fail their saving throw take a 1d3 Str penalty and do not feel as if they took any damage from the attack (but they are aware an attack was attempted), and the pain caused by the attack if suppressed. After 1 minute, a secondary save occurs. On a successful save they become aware of the attack on them and the damage it caused, and the poison effect ends. On a failed save, the pain suppression continues and it applies to any future pain in the local area, no larger than the size of a single limb or a Tiny or smaller patch of flesh. The pain immunity lasts for 1 hour, after which any pain effects still in play then come in (and the Str penalty is lifted).

Type: Injury DC 12
Initial Effect: Target does not feel damage of attack, 1d3 Str penalty which goes away after 1 minute, or after the second effect wears off.
Secondary Effect: Immunity to pain for 1 hour, only in one area no larger than a single limb or tiny or smaller patch of flesh.
