Opportunistic Counterspell [General]
Oh-ho! Did you really think you could catch me off guard?Prerequisites: Ability to cast 1st-level spells, Combat Casting, Combat Reflexes, Dex 13, Int 15, Wis 13Benefit: Whenever any creature attempts to cast a spell within 20 feet of you per +1 bonus of your spellcasting modifier (ex. 80 feet for a wizard with 18 Intelligence) or 10 feet per character level (whichever is higher), you may use an attack of opportunity to attempt to counter that spell as if you had readied an action for counterspelling. However, the attack of opportunity is consumed as soon as you begin your attempt; if your dispel check or Spellcraft check fails, or you do not actually know the spell to be countered (for spontaneous casters) or have it prepared (for nonspontaneous casters), your attack of opportunity is wasted to no effect.
Normal: You need to ready an action to attempt to counterspell.Special: Unlike the salient ability Instant Counterspell, this feat does not allow you to use spell-like abilities as counterspells, nor does it allow you to counter spell-like abilities.
