At first glance it almost appears to be a humanoid clad head to toe in bone full plate armor, complete with bone sword and shield. However a closer look reveals that no entity inhabits this "suit", merely a spongy mess of marrow and eyes.

Disturbingly humanoid creations of this realm, the armored osteolite is largely bone, with seemingly insufficient tendons and taut musculature to power its movements as if its shell were an exoskeleton. Likewise it is cunningly smart, and often acts as defenders of important areas they were charged to defend.

Combat[edit]

The osteolites battle in a very human manner, relying on their boneblades and its ossification, and following up with a shield bash. These items are grown by the osteolite and can be removed, though they lose the ossification property outside of its own hands. The boneblade counts as any one-handed martial sword for the purposes of proficiency.

Brittle Break: Osteolites are incredibly hard, but actually brittle in the right circumstances. If they ever take a critical hit from a bludgeoning weapon or over 30 points of bludgeoning damage after DR and temporary hit points, they crack. Subsequently they take double damage from all physical attacks afterward, even piercing and slashing damage.

Enhanced Bones (Su): Osteolites enhance their own bone weapons with the constant effect of greater magic weapon, but only in their own hands.

Ossify (Su): Those struct with the boneblade are inflicted with a terrible slow-acting petrification that turns flesh to bone. Creatures must make a DC 20 Fortitude save or take 1d4 points of Dexterity damage. Once Dexterity is reduced to 0, they are petrified as per flesh to stone except bone (hardness 4). Remove curse and heal or stronger effects can remove this damage, as well as normal ability recovery means.
