This rapier is a bright unnatural red, like solid fresh blood. Inscribed on the crimson hilt are holy symbols of gods of sacrifice and suffering.
This brilliant red +1 blacksteel rapier comes with a built in blood pin hilt and can gain additional powers through the sacrifice of blood. The strength of one's effect depends on one's faith; anyone can access the normal effect, but only those with the sacrifice of a 4th level divine spell or the True BelieverCD feat can access the former and the improved effect. As a free action one can cause oneself to instantly bleedout and gain one of the following abilities for the rest of the encounter:

Once per day if you take more than 50% of your maximum hp in damage in a single encounter, you can activate one of these abilities for free.
The blade seems to drink blood. It turns dark red when not fed, and bright vibrant red when it recently tasted blood.
