I don't disagree with the mechanic you've devised per se, but for a feat as ubiquitous as Dodge, this is far too much work to keep track of during a combat.

Also, come to think of it, at higher levels most of the creatures you fight tend to have good stats across the board, limiting the usefulness of this feat somewhat.

Interdasting. The AC Bonus you get from dismissing this effect is fairly minor and a bit clunky ruleswise, but harmless. The real strength is replacing Str with Dex. Great against bosses, poor against groups. I would not advice abilities which buff vanilla Dodge to work against all targets to function with this Dodge.

Speaking of which, does this count as Dodge? At the moment of writing it does not.

Should definitely be VH as it completely and entirely screws over most fighter types who invest in Str rather than Dex.

Also a really weird feat--why are they suddenly using Dex? Why are they making touch attacks against you? Why is bobbing and weaving not helping against ranged attacks? This feat just seems all over the place.

Comments[edit]

In response to Ghostwheel's claim that this should be VH... no. In no way does this stack up to the other VH feat options. It's single target (though you can turn on multiple ones I guess, though that messes with your ability to cancel out), uses swift and immediate actions like candy, and not actually very good really. Making an opponent make touch attacks against me sucks for me. I lose armor bonus, armor enhancement, shield bonus (without additional feat investment), shield enhancement, and natural armor bonus, things which are likely on par with or bigger than whatever the Str guy loses by swapping to a different attribute. And if I don't want them doing that after spending a swift action to turn it on, I have to spend an immediate action to turn it off again to gain a temporary, but at least sort of useful, bonus against one attack.

Making 1 guy attack you with dex mod instead of str mod and calling it done would be H, even if you could designate him as a free action once per turn instead of as a swift. So long as you couldn't stack multiple guys like you can now anyway. It's a pretty big debuff, but single target and you're still vulnerable to group stabbings. It doesn't do anything against ranged or spellcasting enemies, and the H level melee group mostly just stops power attacking you for lots of damage and has to do other things to you. Making everyone attack you with dex instead of str all the time is less clear I think. That might still be VH, but I'm not convinced. - Tarkisflux Talk 19:29, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
