Yay poisons are useful again!

Not sure why unquantifiable, seems to put poison back on par with how monsters do theirs. Either way, looks good.

Because it's entirely dependent on whether your DM gives you access to poisons, and which, due to the fact that they're not an innate ability. --Ghostwheel (talk) 08:59, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
They have a market value, so in theory it shouldn't be DM-dependent. Unless you want to argue that any feat that requires a longsword is also DM-dependent because longswords might not be for sale. I do understand in practice, many DMs do restrict poisons and their purchase, however (I certainly have in the past). I'd say a better argument for unquantifiable is that poisons vary so much in their effects. Drow poison can pretty much instantly end a battle, especially when the DC is higher than 13. Giant wasp poison is going to remove a couple points of AC, on the other hand. That much makes it hard to quantify where the balance really sits. --Aarnott (talk) 14:37, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Name Change[edit]

Why for did it get one? The previous title seems a lot more fitting, as I can think of plenty of substances that you don't actually master with this feat. Something with alchemy in the title might be more fitting, if you want to avoid poison in the title. - Tarkisflux Talk 01:01, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Because I made it include also alchemical substances. Should I rename it to Master of Alchemy? Alchemical Master? If you think of something better, feel free to change the name. --Ghostwheel (talk) 09:20, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
Master Alchemist implies (to me anyway) that you can also create them, and that's not what the feat does at all. I think something like Master Poisoner or Master Grenadier would work, because those are words for using the sorts of things that you're really good at using, but I can't think of a word that covers both well. Alchemy Focus sort of fits the pattern of DC boosting things in published sources, but could easily be confused with Skill Focus (craft alchemy) or whatever. I'll keep kicking it around, but I don't like any of the names I've seen / thought of so far.
On a different note, why the alchemy add? Just wanted to make it more generally applicable? - Tarkisflux Talk 04:19, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Just suggesting some names since I stumbled across this and I've got nothing better to do, but how but Master of Concoctions or Potency of Experts.--Stryker (talk) 12:34, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Master of Concoctions sounds pretty cool. And I updated it as a way to increase the DC of alchemical ingredients, which is often lacking and doesn't have a way to be boosted. Plus it seemed to fit since both it and poisons are under Craft (Alchemy). --Ghostwheel (talk) 16:59, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
