NOPE.avi[edit]

"Now minion, finish them!"

"Nope."

"Well, can't kill them now."

This seems like it was supposed to have a save. Like, badly. This shuts down the game. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 13:53, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

"Well, can't kill them now. Minion, tie them up and put them in the dungeon!"
"Yes boss." --Foxwarrior (talk) 18:43, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
That doesn't really help. Here, let me put it in the context of the enemy. The BBEG is gonna nuke the city and has this. Gotta disarm the bomb! "You don't want to disarm the bomb." Then we'll break it! "You don't wanna break it." Then we'll throw it elsewhere! "You don't want to throw it elsewhere." Then we- too late, bomb has detonated, everyone dies.
The lack of ability to resist it period is a big problem. Either its useless because "you can just reword it" or it's omnipotent because you can cover any situation and cancel it. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 23:40, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
I assume that by "The BBEG" you mean "The BBEG's team of initiators" because this is an immediate action and talking is a free action. Also, keep in mind that if nobody asks anybody to do something, Slippery Slope doesn't work; if two people were planning to disarm the bomb, and one said to the other "let's disarm the bomb", the "If the creature was going to do it without being asked or told to, this won't stop them" clause kicks in and Slippery Slope can't stop either of them from disarming the bomb.
Adding a save doesn't actually solve any problems with an effect; it just masks the problems by attaching a ~50% chance that the problems won't occur.
You can't cover any situation and cancel it, unless your opponent says something really stupid (like "Obey me"), because it's triggered by the person you're trying to suppress asking for something. Your ability to reword the request after Slippery Slope has been used on you depends directly on what you said in the first place. --Foxwarrior (talk) 00:10, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
Well, I guess one thing a save actually would fix is the situation where a level 20 character can afford to have two dozen 9th level initiators following them around and wielding Slippery Slopes in a way that should probably not be quite that convincing. --Foxwarrior (talk) 01:08, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
