Build traps?[edit]

I was thinking a ToP trap building skill would be interesting. Maybe trap building could go here? --Aarnott 14:23, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

This would be a reasonable place for some of the more elaborate traps, probably, but I'm leaving them out for reasons I'll get to in a minute. The more simplistic ones (snares, leaf covered pits, etc.) are already covered in a somewhat loose way by the Survival skill (here). My concern with anything more elaborate than those, or that requires more time than those to construct, is that they are things that fall into downtime activities rather that a during adventure ability. It's not something a character can really choose to use in a campaign or an adventure, and I don't want skill points going towards those sorts of uses because they don't add consistent value. So it's not here now, and I don't really plan on adding it.
What I am planning on is a sizable trap revision after I finish my crafting revision (sandboxed here if you're interested). The goal of that will be to revisit the idea of trap CR and experience (and make them a function of location/dungeon instead of individual trap, along with guidelines) and tie it all together with crafting in general so the system works better for stronghold building/acquiring, but it's well out into the future at this point. - Tarkisflux Talk 19:43, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Arcane Key?[edit]

A while back, I made a spell called arcane key, which is just what it sounds like — a key to an arcane lock. It might be fun to find a way to replicate that with this skill. --Luigifan18 (talk) 07:37, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
