This spell causes a small eruption of boiling lava, which scorches those close to it. As you cast this spell, choose a grid intersection that connects to the ground to be the center of the spell area. All creatures in the area take 2d6 points of bludgeoning damage and 1d6 point of fire damage per caster level (maximum of 10d6). A successful Reflex save halves. A large or smaller creature next to the adjacent to the chosen grid intersection that fails it Reflex save also fall prone. All squares adjacent to the grid intersection are treated as difficult terrain until the area is cleared.

This spell may replaces acid arrow or flame arrow as a 3rd level spell for the magma arcane school. A volcano oracle may choose this spell instead of protection from energy as a 3rd level spell.

Volcanic plume work both underwater and above water without a caster level check for being a fire spell.
