Mortem[edit]

Introduction[edit]

The mortem are a strange race that have accepted that death is the only constant. Their strange acceptance has granted them limited powers over death, allowing them to see how close someone is to death or if they are capable of dying at all. They also have very long lifespans, although they had this before their acceptance of death.

History[edit]

Long ago their race along with many other inhabitants of their continent were forced into slavery by a vile race of creatures now known only as the Unforgiven. Eventually the slaves formed an uprising where they took back ownership of their lands and destroyed most of their captors .One powerful mortem spellcaster enacted a spell to form the slavers into mindless monsters with an appearance which reflected their evils. They have since built a few cities though only a bit more than half are at the city at anyone time due to their wandering nature.

Personality[edit]

The Mortem are a generally serious and areserved race. Most people would call them anti-social, although those who know a mortem personally would say they are just thoughtful and quiet. They are generally content with their lives for they know that they will one day die, even though that death will be far away, by virtue of their long life spans. Although they do not show them often they do have emotions, however they almost never display these emotions and tend to have better control over not showing their negative emotions than showing their positive emotions.

Physical Description[edit]

The Mortem stand anywhere from 5 to 6 1/2 feet tall, with women tending to be a bit smaller than the men. They’re skin is stark white. They have no hair aside from the hair on their heads. They generally have pitch-black hair though light shades of gray and streaks of white are not uncommon, their eyes are generally similar colors to those of most humans but with less vibrance, and completely black irises are common.

Relations[edit]

Most other races tend to get uncomfortable around the mortem, they find the acceptance of death to be eerie and unsettling. The mortem on the other hand are easygoing and judge people as individuals not judging people by race or appearance.

Alignment[edit]

The Mortem race tends toward neutrality, with an inclination towards good over evil and law over chaos. There are very few evil mortem in the world.

Lands[edit]

Mortem don't have many lands of their own that are known of, except for one major city known as Morigis Psotem, however most mortem do not live in a city and have adopted a life of travel and wander.

Religion[edit]

Mortem don't have a specific religion or god, though some do worship a god.

Language[edit]

Mortem speak common and a rare language called Whisper, the language of ghosts and the wind. They share their unique knowledge of this language with the Cardomor race
